Hi I'm Meiko, and for seven years I lived with my beloved owner who saw that I was trained to sit, stay, come, fetch and shake. She died suddenly and now I find myself in need of a new loving home.
I got to sleep with her on the bed, am very much a house dog, and she loved to feed me human treats so a diet is now on my agenda.
My foster parent says I'm a really smart girl, I get along with all the other dogs in the family but not the cat, so my new forever home needs to be kitty-free.
I'm strong, vocal, protective and love long walks in the woods. So if you need a friend who is totally devoted to you and lots of fun, I'm your girl.

Meiko would love an active home with adults or older children (she tends to be a bit of a bull in a China shop and can unwittingly knock down smaller children or the elderly). At 102 pounds and eight years old, she needs room to run and play ball or tug of war. Hide and seek is high on her list of fun, and walks, oh my, best things ever.
She knows her commands and is totally housebroken to a dog door or an ask. She's extremely smart and for all her ferocious appearance it's all made up. That being said she'd make a great watchdog since a home invader wouldn't know she's a gentle giant.
Her issues are with kitties so she needs a feline-free environment. But other dogs are grand in all sizes--if her size doesn't overwhelm them!
Be prepared to do a lot of brushing for this sweet furry girl. And know she does prefer a couch to the floor.
